Restored Community
Our mission is for young people, but our vision is restored community. Everybody knows that we can’t have truly healthy young people without an engaged, caring community, but we also assert that we can’t have a truly healthy community without engaged, caring young people.
One of the most important aspects of life in the IKE Box is the gathering of such diverse elements of our community. It is not uncommon for legislators, rock musicians, businesspeople, homeless kids, and Willamette students to be thrown together over coffee at the IKE Box. With proximity (and caffeine) comes the breaking down of stereotypes and the opening of minds.
